If your knitting is fairly loose you can make a stitch where the YO should be.
Pick up the yarn between the stitches (ie where the YO should be) using a crochet hook or spare needle, crochet hook is easier. This is similar to the M1 increase.
Then use this thread to work up to your live stitches, making a new column of knit stitches. This is the same as fixing a dropped stitch.
